Something I discovered recently which I just had to share :)
Whether you have that someone special to share this delectable spread with, or am just going to indulge on your own, this is something not to be missed. I shared it with a friend last weekend; I think the food justifies the calories, lol.
The portion size is good for 2 persons during that peckish period in-between lunch and dinner, esp if you've a good dinner waiting for you ;) Else you can gobble it all up on your own ... though I do think it's quite a substantial portion for one. It also comes with 2 drinks: choice of coffee or tea. I had tea while my friend had coffee and both worked well with the spread.
Oh, one more thing: the pink raspberry macarons are not to be missed! I love macarons and having 2 of them in 1 tea set is just heavenly.

Skin food
I've been trying to eat healthy these days. Since the detox thingy, thought it would be a good thing if I'd persevere for a while.
So far, have been taking more veggies and water. I find Korean food is good for this ;) Loads of veggies and I really love kimchi. This is from a dinner recently.

Let's detox Day 5
Today's the 5th & final day of my 1 (work) week experiment. I think we (my colleagues & I) outdid ourselves in the salad department. But more on that later.
There were more meetings in the morning, so I grabbed a quick roti-prata with onions and egg. Roti-prata is a kind of Indian fried pancake made from dough; when made really well, it's an interesting mix of crispy and chewy textures all in one. You can add eggs or veggies or even meat to it. In my case, I like it with onions & an egg :)
Lunch was late today after that hearty breakfast but it was all worth it. Here're the pics which I managed to shoot before the gobbling began ^^
All in all, I think this was a pretty good week. I didn't expect to see much difference as I really did not make that much changes to my diet. However, my pants were loose at the end of the week and I feel more alert in the afternoons than if I'd had a 'normal' lunch. Don't think I could do this for the long term tho as it would require more effort and commitment than this beanie want to put in. Maybe once a week?
Happy weekend!!

Let's detox Day 4
If there's going to be any falling off the bandwagon on any diet, I guess today is the day.
Was out running about for some meetings in the morning and didn't have the time to think carefully about my food choices. Do I feel guilty or upset? Surprisingly, no, I don't.
I think it's a gd break for me from the routine that I've been having the past 3 days. It also made me realise that wat we eat requires careful planning & effort, much as we would manage our makeup/beauty routines, finances or pretty much else in our lives.
I was at a breakfast meeting, so couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab some finger sandwiches that were beckoning to me on the many trays laid out in the buffet area ;P I had a salmon sandwich, a cucumber & cheese one, 1 turkey breast one and even a peanut butter wif cream cheese one. Yum *drool, slurp, heh*
Lunch was at a food court near the meeting venue. The place was packed but there was no queue for the fried prawn noodles, so how could I resist? Fried prawn noodles it was, all washed down with a nice warm cup of milk tea. I don't usually eat fried prawn noodles as it's not easy to get nicely cooked ones. I'm glad to report: this plate was worth all the calories ^^
Mad rush today, can't wait to get back to wholemeal bread tomorrow!

Let's detox Day 3
It's the middle of the week and I think I'm starting to get the hang of this ;) My stomach is getting used to the low-fat or almost non-fat lunch. Tummy doesn't feel bloated after lunch time plus I don't get the afternoon drowsies much as I used to.
Breakfast today was just a glass of green apple juice as I wasn't hungry and work was getting busy. Lunch as usual: 2 slices wholemeal bread; lettuce & nuts wif apple cider-honey dressing; and a egg done sunny side up. Yums!
I've to be out of the office for some meetings tomorrow tho, so may not be able to do lunch as I would like to but let's see how things go. Wish me luck! ^^

Let's detox Day 2
And we're in Day 2.
Breakfast today is a glass of fresh squeezed green apple juice. I'm fortunate: there's a fruit store near the office which sells fresh & cheap juice. Yummilicious ^^ I also brought a peanut butter & cheese sandwich from home. Here it is in all its uneaten glory ;P
Lunch:
Aaack, again I was too quick to gobble things down, hence no photos, sorry! But here's what I ate -
I think my stomach have started adjusting to this diet. I'm not as hungry as I was on Day 1. In fact, it took a bit of effort for me to finish the sandwich. I wasn't fervently praying for dinner to be here soon, though I was famished by 6pm.
Here's looking to Day 3!

Let's detox Day 1
Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for like, ages ... Had a case of skin sensitivities (which I thot I'd never see again but well, never say never) n had to pare my skincare routine down to a bare monastic minimal.
What with the Chinese Lunar New Year & birthdays & celebrations n this n that, I've been eating like a famine is imminent and I'd better store some food, hiaks hiaks. Was chatting wif my colleagues abt this last week: one thing led to another, before I knew it, I was "enrolled" in a one week detox diet with the rest of the ladies.
Our plan is simple: lunch on 2 slices of wholemeal bread for 5 days. Sandwich fillings can include:
So, today is day 1 :) I forgot to take photos of my lunch cos I was too busy stuffing my face. But it was gd. On today's menu:
My ... I can't wait for dinner ... LOL.
To keep me on the straight and narrow, I shall start listing down my entire day's food intake from Day 2. Fingers' crossed, let's hope this works!

- loads of veggies (no dressing except balsamic vinaigrette, olive oil or something along these lines),
- no meat, maybe tuna (in brine, mind you, oil is a no-no) or
- eggs.
So, today is day 1 :) I forgot to take photos of my lunch cos I was too busy stuffing my face. But it was gd. On today's menu:
- 2 slices wholemeal bread,
- 1 piece egg omelette (courtesy of a colleague who woke up early),
- loads of iceberg lettuce wif balsamic vinaigrette & honey dressing
- a tablespoon of mashed avocado as a spread.
My ... I can't wait for dinner ... LOL.

Scrumptious duck
How was your weekend everyone? I enjoyed every bit of mine; the only complaint was that the weekend was too short! ;P
Had dinner at a restaurant which specialises in herbal roast duck. It was scrumptiously deliciously: the skin was crisp, crackling to the bite yet meltingly soft on the tongue, almost dissolving instantly. Ah, I'm almost drooling at the memory of it *kekeke*
As usual, some food photos to share wif you. Have a good week ahead!
That's the name of the place. The whole place was decorated to resemble a Chinese inn in ancient times with the wait staff's uniform fitting into the theme as well.
Chinese spinach poached in soup, with herbs and dried fish. I forget the name of the fish but they were deliciously crunchy.
Steamed fish slices with Chinese red dates and mushrooms. Soft yet firm to the bite, the sauce added just that extra dimension of taste.
Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the duck. I think the picture sort of says it all.
And for dessert, I had a herbal jelly type of thingy which can be rather bitter but is oh so good for complexion and health. Pour on honey on top and enjoy spoonfuls of the cold jelly goodness :)

Interesting pastas
I'm beginning to enjoy August more and more. Not just it's nearing the end of the hot and humid season but also, somehow there're more things to do, more things to see; people are just more alive in August.
Tried a couple of new pastas this weekend. And as usual, I couldn't do without an ice cold blended drink :)
Scrumptious fish fillets with penne in a robust lobster bisque sauce. I really like the fish - crisp, firm yet easily forkable - it's really light for summer.
This is an interesting take on the normal carbonara - turkey ham and mushrooms in a carbonara sauce. Not too heavy even if it's a carbonara sauce, I think they used less cream or maybe it's a non-fat cream in the white sauce?
Mixed berry granita. Tart n refreshing, I could return again just for this. Perfect for the seaside or the pool if you have one ;)

Fish head steamboat
This is turning into a food blog ;)
Can't help it, I've been eating really well recently. Good food, nice company, quaint places - wat more could a beanie want?
Went out wif some frens tonight to a little steamboat place near KK Hospital. Let me know if you'd like the address and stuff. My fren drove, so I was blissfully unaware of my surroundings. Lol.
Liked the place alot as they were rather old-school: for one thing, they still served their steamboat in those metal pots with charcoal in the middle. The fish was fresh and the soup really addictive. Take a look at the pics and see if you agree ;)
The fish head steamboat which came in this traditional pot. Look at how milky the soup is.
Loads of fish chunks, seaweed and veggies. Yummilicious.
The shop's signature beancurd in seafood sauce.
Not sure if you can tell from the picture but the beancurd was really soft and yielding to the bite.
We also ordered prawn paste chicken and stir-fried veggies.
Total bill came up to around $80 for 5 people, inclusive of drinks. I thought that's rather value for money, don't you think?

Welcome to August
And it's got to be the hottest month ever. The heat is sweltering but I'm so grateful for my Lotree BB prime control base (or the equivalent of a bb cream from Lotree). I forget that I'm wearing anything tho I may be sweating buckets.
Anyways, haven't been doing much in the makeup dept recently due to the heat. I have however been stuffing myself wif good food ;). Need the air-conditioning! And wat better way to enjoy the cool air whilst inhaling some yummilicious food?
I have a thing for dim sum. Took the opportunity during this long weekend for a nice leisurely dim sum lunch. The only picture I took as I was too busy eating ;P This is a prawn and mango roll with wasabi sauce. Delightfully light and crispy!
Dessert from dinner last nite. Something sweet and cold for a hot summer night. This is yam wrapped in black glutinous rice skin, coated with grated coconut. It's like heaven in my mouth really.
Saw this at some restaurant when I was having lunch the past week and couldn't resist. H1N1 or Influenza A or swine flu or watchamacallit is very much on everyone's minds these days :(
Btw, time flies. I'm already at my 101 post! Wow :) Have a happy weekend everyone!
Stay safe, stay happy, stay healthy. Hugs to all.

Food glorious food
The weather has been sweltering recently. I've taken to drinking more icy stuff. Appetite tends to go off in weather like this but thankfully, there's always nice toasted sandwiches with loads of cheese :)
Enjoy!

TGIF!!!
I've been sticking closely to my skincare n makeup routine these days. Or make that just skincare n sunscreen routine ;P Lol.
Nothing new in the beauty department. I have however been eating n eating n eating. It's durian season here, so boy, have I been stuffing. Was introduced to a family-run business dealing in these luscious fruits recently. When you get the good stuff, there is really no turning back. I realised these babies can be as good as wine - there're different varieties, different tastes or flavours, different notes to each flavour. Yum...
Too busy pigging out to take photos. However, I came across a really good ice-cream coupon today, so thought I'd like to share that :) If you stay in the same country as I do, enjoy your ice-cream!! :)

Welcome to July!
Sorry I've been missing in action for a while. June was a busy month for me in the office and personally. Was working on some projects at work and went travelling a bit... Before I knew it, whoosh! There goes the month of June.
Have been keeping to my skin care and bb cream essentials for June. Finding it such freedom: it is a comfort to wake up in the morning n just go through my routine :) Plus these items WORK for me, so that makes it double happiness.
As a way to commemorate the end of June, I had some delicious Singapore hawker food for lunch yesterday. Leaving you with a picture of it here.
Happy July!! v*^-^*v
